Hey Reader,

Recently on a dating app, someone asked me, "So, what do you read for fun?"

My answer was, "I only read for fun!"

There are too many compelling, inspiring books out there to read things that bore me. And I'm a big nerd, so reading is how I get my thrills.

That's come in handy as I've been undertaking this self-directed MFA. In that post, I mention that this whole endeavor is mostly a mindset.

There is no university or institution monitoring my process. It's entirely up to me to take it seriously.

So in my effort to make this self-directed MFA as real as possible, I've built myself a syllabus.

And I'm sharing it with you, because it's full of books that are responsible for the upswing in my creativity over the last year.

There's lots of recommendations on there, and while some of them are specific to the memoir project I'm working on, most of them I would recommend to anyone who is going on a creative journey or aiming to live a sweet writer's life.

If you think of any books you think I should add to my list, please let me know. You can just reply to this email, or any email I ever send you.

I'll be updating my syllabus as I pick up more material, and will be back in your inbox soon with more creative inspo.

Until then!

- Liam
